This is possibly one of the best essays I have read about anything ever. This very topic has been on my mind a lot lately because of my profession; how much people worrying about what others may think or say is an insidious form of control, and it’s mostly self inflicted, and it clearly stymies happiness in real time. Such wisdom! Are you 175 years old?
Thank you 🖤 I deeply appreciate your kind words and I’m thrilled I got to share my thoughts with you. If there is ever a topic you’d like me to explore, let me know. Xx
I definitely will! I just love the way you articulated these thoughts and used Bjork and Bowie as examples. There are so many levels to the ideas you explored in this piece, and so much fashion styling is boringly “safe.” I feel like we could do an entire book talk on your essay.
Omg I LOVE this. I am myself on a journey of letting go of all the embarrassment and sometimes even shame (yuck) of being who I truly am and I am so happy to see the same energy here.
Don’t feel bad for letting something go, it’s better to feel it now than to stifle it for the rest of your life 🖤 you are fabulous just the way you are. I’m rooting for you!
Brilliant! Absolutely riveting. I’m literally in a setting where normally I would try to shrink due to my clothing and I’m realizing - actually no I don’t have to feel bad. Like you’re right being embarrassing is so unoriginal, boring and just keeps promoting the same dull status quo- and if there is one terrible thing if this world it can be that.
You are a brilliant mind! I couldn’t agree more. I’m so so happy you enjoyed reading, and I love seeing you on TikTok, too! :) if there is ever anything you want me to discuss don’t hesitate to let me know. 🖤
needed to read this!
I feel this every time I post on this app :)
I love that :)
"Nothing is embarrassing if you are not embarrassed." --- I needed to read this today. THANK YOU ✨
